In 2020, the global demand for powder coatings is expected to reach USD 12.48 billion by 2020, according to a new study by Grand View Research, Inc. Growing support for the use of powder coatings in comparison to conventional liquid paints by regulatory agencies such as EPA and REACH on account of negligible VOC emissions is expected to be a key driver for market growth. In addition, growing application demand with regards to automotive, appliances and consumer goods is also expected to drive powder coating sales over the next six years.

Driven by the development of new material, new formulations and advancement of equipment and application processes, the powder coating market presents a rapid annual growth. Currently, consumer goods are the largest application market of powder coatings, with estimated consumption of 437.3 kilo tons in 2013. Automotive and general Industries were the key application markets, with combined powder coating sales expected to reach USD 5.11 billion by 2020. Powder coating demand in furniture was relatively small in 2013 but is expected to witness substantial growth of over 7.6% from 2014 to 2020.

The research suggests a growing preference on powder coatings over conventional liquids because of its advantages – high quality finish, higher resistance to corrosion, chipping and abrasion and protection from chemicals, moisture and heat. In addition powder coatings are solvents free resulting in negligible emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOC) which in turn makes these products environmental friendly.

This is why organizations such as the EPA and REACHES promote the use of powder coatings over conventional materials. At Architectural & Industrial Metal Finishing Company, LLC, our custom powder coating lines are designed with quality and versatility in mind. We operate two conveyor types, and one batch type processing production line to accommodate a range of sizes and volumes. These specially designed lines can powder coat parts up to 26’ x 3’ x 6’ and heavy duty hooks can hold up to 550 lbs. each. From light poles to electrical enclosures, our lines can be configured to hold small intricate parts up to large scale architectural components. To achieve proper adhesion of the coating to the substrate, 3 stage or 6 stage pre-treatment processes are used. In addition we also provide sandblasting, shot blasting, and surface grinding to remove all old coatings, rust, or scale prior to washing.
