Architectural & Industrial Metal Finishing: Durable Solutions via New Powder Coating Innovation

As detailed by Products Finishing in their article “Powder Coating Formulation Combines Hardness and Flexibility,” IFS Coatings (Gainesville, Texas) has introduced IFS Puroplaz PE16, a cutting-edge thermoplastic modified polyolefin powder coating. This new formulation uniquely combines incredible hardness with excellent flexibility and high adhesion properties.

Tim Brinner, Vice President of Thermoplastics at IFS Coatings, emphasizes the innovation behind Puroplaz PE16: “This PE16 formula has a rare combination of hardness and flexibility. These attributes are normally codependent with a trade-off in one for gains in the other. The brand new formulation overcomes this, making it ideal for products that will be post-formed after coating, such as fence wire weaving, which also require excellent abrasion resistance.”

Puroplaz PE16 delivers a Shore D Hardness of 60, high gravelometer performance, and exceptional impact and abrasion resistance. These qualities make it suitable for a wide range of applications, including woven wire fence, fence poles, baskets, battery boxes, agricultural implements, automotive springs, water pipe and fittings, petroleum pipe (OD) and fittings, and foot traffic areas. Additionally, the coating provides the lower gloss that many of these applications demand.

Available in both spray and dip grade formulations, Puroplaz PE16 is formulated without the use of PVC, Phthalates, or BPA, aligning with current health and environmental standards.
