Laser cutting is an expertise that uses a laser to cut materials, and is normally used for industrial manufacturing applications. Limitations of custom laser cutting

  • In laser cutting small circles (generally for screw holes) will not be perfectly circular. Again the holes may be conical due to the minor taper of the laser cut.
  • Sharp and thin pieces which taper to a needle-sharp point might deform from the laser’s heat or crack down when taken out of the scrap.
  • Plastic thickness can vary up to 10% (+/-), so it is not possible to count the thickness to be exact when designing the parts.
  • The material sits on a metal grid all throughthe cutting, so when the laser cuts through the material, hits the metal grill and bounces back and again hits the bottom of the material, as a result causing a little dent or mark.
